- Save your hotel's Chinese address and a late-arrival backup
For an arrival at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (深圳宝安国际机场, SZX), compare the metro journey to your hotel’s actual entrance with the convenience of a car. A central district name is not enough to choose the best transfer.
Start with your destination
Before flying, save the hotel’s Chinese name, street address, map pin and reception contact. Ask the hotel which entrance a car should use and whether reception can handle your expected arrival time. Keep this information available without mobile data.
| Your situation | A useful first option | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Light luggage and a hotel near rail | Metro | Transfers, final walk and remaining service |
| Several bags or a group | Taxi or booked car | Vehicle capacity and total quoted or metered cost |
| Arrival near the end of rail service | A car backup | Actual time after baggage collection |
| A regional train connection | Plan both legs together | Exact station, ticket time and a generous transfer margin |
Take the metro
The airport identifies Line 11 as its airport express metro connection, using Airport station (机场站). Follow terminal signs to the metro and check the destination and direction before entering. A route planner may show other stations with “Airport” in their names; select the station serving your terminal.
Check the current route to your hotel, including the last usable transfer. Line 11 has standard and business-carriage fares, so read the carriage and payment signs before boarding. Our metro guide explains tickets and payment backups.
Use a taxi or a booked car
The city’s airport guide locates the taxi rank on the eastern platform of the Ground Transportation Center’s second floor. Follow current airport signs if arrangements have changed. For an app booking, follow the pickup point shown in the app rather than assuming it is the taxi rank.
Send the driver the saved address, check the vehicle details, and keep a payment method ready. See the Didi and taxi guide for booking and pickup checks.
Plan a late arrival
Base the decision on when you leave arrivals, not the scheduled landing time. Allow for immigration where applicable, baggage, walking and finding transport. Check the airport’s current bus information if you prefer a coach, including the final stop and departure time; a service to the same district may still leave a substantial last leg.
If your hotel is hard to locate, ask reception for a message you can show a driver. Keeping that message and the booking confirmation offline is particularly useful when roaming or a payment app needs troubleshooting.
Flying into Hong Kong instead?
Hong Kong International Airport is a different arrival plan with a cross-border journey. Use the Hong Kong to Shenzhen guide for ferry and coach arrangements before choosing a flight based on its fare alone.
